Honda Jazz in June 2009

Honda Seil Cars India (HSCI) has announced to launch its hatchback small car Honda Jazz in India by the month of June. The new Honda Jazz comes with a developed 1.2 litre engine for Indian conditions. According to a company official, with the launch of Jazz, HSCI will enter into hatchback category market in India. Honda Jazz is likely to be the most expensive petrol hatchback in Indian market having a price tag of Rs 5.5 lakh.

With the introduction of Jazz, Honda will enter into direct competition with other players in Indian market including Skoda, Tata Motors, Ford and Hyundai. While interacting with the media, the managing director & CEO of HSCI, Masahiro Takedagawa informed that the new car will have all the requisite features that are found in a premium large car. The company claimed that Honda Jazz has been developed to ensure proper legroom and headroom space.

Talking about the engine of Jazz, Takedagawa said that Honda has incorporated a special engine in the car to cater to the Indian conditions. Honda Jazz also comes with a toughened suspension to bear the condition of Indian roads. The car will also use Honda pioneered V-Tec technology for high fuel efficiency. This technology has also been incorporated in Honda City. Other features of Honda Jazz include customized navigation system, in-car entertainment and sporty tyres. The company is also expected to launch a diesel variant of Honda Jazz.
