BMW catches fire in Ahmedabad; four die

August 1, 2009 In a tragic accident in Ahemdabad, four people were burnt to death as the BMW they were travelling in, caught fire.
The four people, reportedly all mechanics of BMW, had taken a new car for a test drive when it caught fire after ramming into a trailer.
It appears the car's central locking system failed and all four got trapped inside the car. Three hours of operation by a large team of fire officials finally managed to take out the charred remains of the four people.
Sources said the four occupant of the car were employees of Parsoli Motors, the BMW dealership in the city. They were on a test drive of the vehicle, which had come to Parsoli’s workshop for repairs and service.
Police said the accident took place around 6.30 pm near Ognaj. The four occupants could not escape and got burnt to death as the car doors got locked automatically and had jammed.
BMW officials say that they have never heard of any BMW go up in flames like this.
